Rowlandblue Ray / Bio

Rowlandblue Ray is an inspirational young composer writing original, moving melodies.

His first solo instrumental album called “Circle”, available on-line from CD-Baby.

Circle
Originally written and recorded by guitarist Rowlandblue Ray at Riverwood Online studios during 2010 and 2011.
Some of these tracks have appeared before on-line as low quality MP3’s.
For this album all the tracks have been remixed to a higher quality during December 2011.

Rowlandblue plays all the instruments, including lead guitar, rhythm, bass guitar and organ.

The tracks.
(notes from a life long fan)

Estuary Dreams
An evocative piece inspired by an autumn day along the Lower Thames Estuary - seclusion, mists, distant seabirds, the gentle swish of a rising tides and the faint pulse of unseen ships.

Rosewood Sky
To my ears, this is one of the most exhilarating pieces Rowlandblue has recorded.
It grows and fills the head drawing you in.
One day there will be a voice added so here are the first few verses of the lyric…..

Before the colour left your eyes
You painted clouds and rosewood skies

Ignore the crowing mannequins
The raucous puppeteer
With jarring reminiscence calls
For only one to hear.

Indifferent sun deny the roars
To nourish twilight tides
And just as stately learning comes
To feed the rising mind.

Kansas Tornado
“It just came when I was in the right mood. Musical ideas crowded in faster than I could play them – on a good day that is how it goes.”
This racy piece wrote itself and was recorded as it was written.

Cerulean Echoes
When I first saw the chord progression for this I had not heard it played and could not believe it would work. I think its appeal lies in the subtle chord changes behind line as each layer is added.

Catchy Monkey
This is actually in three parts. It was more “developed” than written - over several weeks with lots of variations. I remember Rowland left more out than he put in for the final mix.

Tenth Dimension
This is another piece written more or less as it was being recorded. As with much of Rowland’s music there are some lyrics yet to find a voice……..

Now I see a different sky,
Still composed and drawn,
To dazzle with an altered glare,
It’s brightness arms the dawn

Exhausted forests force decay
And turn to silent field
Where jaded leaves fall withered
On lifeless earth revealed

A silhouette of leafless willow
Against receding stars
A decorated speckled web
A grid of jet-black scars

Behind the lattice glimpse the vortex
Raised in bright ascension
That novel revelation pulls
Toward the tenth dimension

Keep Moving
Dance on. I have no idea where this came from. Rowland wrote and recorded it over a four chord progression which includes a minor chord followed by its diminished seventh – but I don’t think it bothered him.

Henry's Bridge
This was actually written some years before it was recorded. It was used in jamming sessions so there is a lot more that does not appear here and that may never be played again.

Happy Dog
I cannot help thinking that the wonderful Larry Carlton inspired the jazzy feel of this one. The happy dog is Rowland’s West Highland Terrier, a cute little control freak who views the guitar as a rival for his attention.

Jetride
With real jets.
