Highland Ramblers, the Denver based high-energy boot-stomping string band known for their take on old-time and traditional Americana music. Drawing influences from roots music, folk, and blues, the Highland Ramblers craft and perform original material bordering bluegrass that is filled with thoughtful stories, high harmonies, and a blistering whirlwind of pickin’ sure to keep you dancing, even if you don’t know how to!
The Highland Rambler train rolls down the track following the plunkity old-time rolls from Steve Jones' clawhammer banjo. Those appalachian rolls are flanked by slip sliding dobro licks and fiddle provided by JD Hortel, blistering mandolin runs from Jeff Gillespie, slinky bass and slaps from James Dickerson, and blues infused harp with guitar from Andy Carlson. Andy, Jeff and James sing 3 part harmonies which forge the unique Rambler sound.
Early encouragement from a strong network of friends yielded successful initial gigs and landed the Highland Ramblers in Denver's Sunnyside Music Fest (in 2009) by winning the Battle of the Bands. They now perform regularly in Colorado at a variety of venues and have shared the stage with national touring acts. In 2011 The Highland Ramblers released an EP and continue to write new songs. In 2013 the Highland Ramblers will be releasing a new record.
