The Velvet Ants formed in 2006. They released two albums in February of 2007 called Lunatic Frame and Pixie Junk (a collection of b-sides). Both were self-produced and released on the bands own label, T!LT Records. Only a few hundred copies were made, hand numbered and personalized by the band members themselves. Both discs were made available at local record shops in the D.C. area. 2009 saw the worldwide re-release of Lunatic Frame in digital format. In Summer of 2011, the band started work on a new album called Advantage co-produced and mixed by Ken Stringfellow of The Posies. Advantage was released in 2012 in two editions and would be the last with the original line-up intact. Extras (from the Advantage sessions) as well as another full-length album (called Solt Olio) was produced by Jordon Zadorozny of Blinker the Star and was released in 2013. The band fuses several contrasting genres and influences into their music including punk, new wave, ambient, post-punk and alternative.
