The Velvet Ants formed in 2006. They released two albums in February of 2007 called Lunatic Frame and Pixie Junk (a collection of b-sides). Both were self-produced and released on the bands own label, T!LT Records. Only a few hundred copies were made, hand numbered and personalized by the band members themselves. Both discs were made available at local record shops in the D.C. area. 2009 saw the worldwide re-release of Lunatic Frame in digital format. In Summer of 2011, the band started work on a new album called Advantage (co-produced and mixed by Ken Stringfellow of The Posies). Advantage was released in 2012 in two editions, and was also made available at local music and record stores. Extras (from the Advantage sessions) as well as an acoustic EP called AU were released in 2013. A collection of covers is said to be in the works as well. The band fuses several contrasting genres and influences into their music including punk, new wave, ambient, post punk and alternative.
