J Fred Knobloch
What do Ray Charles, Faith Hill, George Strait, Trisha Yearwood, Kenny Rogers, Delbert McClinton, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Gregg Allman, Ruth Brown, John Anderson, Etta James and Levon Helms have in common?
They've all recorded songs written by Mississippi native, J Fred Knobloch.
J Fred has been involved with over 400 recordings as a songwriter, studio musician and singer by artists whose styles range from Country to R&B to Jazz, Disco and Pop with several of his tunes appearing in movies and on television.
On the heels of his success as a pop artist for Scotti Bros. Records in 1980 through 82, J Fred relocated to Nashville from Los Angeles in January 1983 to continue his career on Music Row--or Tin Pan Valley as he likes to call it.
His most recent chart successes were Faith Hill's "If My Heart Had Wings" and George Strait's "Meanwhile".
A self-published songwriter since 1997, he still works as a session musician and vocalist as well as performing 30 to 40 dates a year on the road.
Along with Don Schlitz and Thom Schuyler, J Fred originated the 'In The Round' format at the world famous Bluebird Café here in Nashville. This has become the standard presentation for songwriter nights all across the country over the past two decades.
J Fred has two wonderful children, James, 16 and Julia, 14 and a big ol’ dog named Moose.
