Beginning May 1st, 2014, Panorama Jazz Band is releasing one digital-only track per month. Follow us to see how long we can keep it up!
Since before Katrina, Panorama has played every week (Saturdays, 6-10pm) at the internationally renowned Spotted Cat Music Club on New Orleans' ultra-hip Frenchmen Street, their all-acoustic World Music party delighting tourists and locals alike.
The instruments in the band (clarinet, saxophone, trombone, accordion, banjo, tuba and drums) are those of a traditional, New Orleans Jazz Band. Except for the accordion. But the same sounds are also found in music of the Caribbean, Latin America and Eastern Europe, which provide the majority of Panorama's repertoire.
Panorama recordings have been heard on HBOs award winning series "Treme" as well as "The Florestine Collection," by and about slain New Orleans film maker (and band friend) Helen Hill and "Flood Streets," set in the post-Katrina misfit enclave of Bywater, New Orleans.
