Kathryn Caine has released 6 Americana albums that have been praised for her vocal talent, songwriting ability, musicianship and production quality. With each cd , you hear the influences of gospel, bluegrass, country and Rock n’ Roll. Kathryn Caine is a prolific songwriter and fantastic live performer and an amazing singer. You always hear traces of the high and lonesome in her voice as well as the gritty Gospel . She has played the Birchmere, The Bluebird Cafe, The Paramount and opened for acts Phil Vassar, Marc Chestnutt ,Elizabeth Cook, Web Wilder, Asleep at the Wheel, Indigenous, Derek Trucks, Drivin n Cryin Davis Grisman, played with Darren Nicholson of Balsam Range and most recently Jamey Johnson and Josh Turner .
Early on, Ian Gilliam was receiving attention from some of the great players of our time. At age 19, the late Telemaster Danny Gatton offered to collaborate with Ian and produce his first album. Unfortunately, the project never came to fruition before Gatton's death in 1994. In the years following, Ian has gained the respect of many of his favorites, including Jimmy Thackery, Tom Principato, who recorded and released one of Gilliam's songs, and honky tonk king, Bill Kirchen. Billy Brockman grew up in Orange, Va., came of age in the 60's. Bought his first electric guitar after seeing The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show. Played professionally for many years before and after buying Charlottesville Music in '91, with Jawbone, Jimmy O & the Ready Teds, Terry Allard, the Kokomotions (with Eddie Hall), Billy & the Backbeats, and Big Ray & the Kool Kats. Eddie Hall has played in bands with Country Music Hall of famer Jimmy Fortune, Award winning banjo player Sammy Shelor, Fiddle player Ricky Simkins, Grammy winner Dan Tymenski, Nashville session guitar player Rodney Riley,and record producer steel player Tommy Detamore. He has also played in many successful bands from c'ville. Sonny Layne has played bass with Terri Allard, Gary Green, and The Buzzerd Hollow Boys. He easily moves between standup bass and electric and along with Eddie Hall , forms the solid backbone of The Small Band.
