The Criminal Kid is a female-fronted Canadian alt-rock band originating from Regina, Saskatchewan, and the core members of the group are Allysia Kerney (vocals, piano) and Michael Van Betuw (Drums). Between the two of them, they have collaborated with over a dozen artists and groups in various genres (from electronic to metal) in their 10+ years of musical experience. This experience has helped shape their innovative, genre-bending sound that has been described as “pop, rock, dark and fun all at the same time” (SPUN music).
The Criminal Kid spent four years being an active part of Saskatchewan’s music scene, playing dozens of shows across the Canadian prairies and releasing a full-length EP in Fall 2012 titled "These Blue Walls Are Faking Freedom". Additionally, Allysia spent half a year in the music capital of Austin, Texas where she collaborated with electronic artist Soma (in addition to attending Culinary School).
"With hard-hitting guitars, up-tempo drum beats and catchy, soaring vocals, The Criminal Kid is a band you should be sure to check out. Their dark pop-rock style of music is infectious, hitting you with songs that will make you dance and warm your heart." (Verb Regina)
