Murphey’s Midnight Rounders is an Acoustic/Americana band with their feet firmly planted in Folk music. Their original material runs the gamut of human emotion while their vocal harmonies have an impact that’s fresh and inspiring.
Brad Murphey has distinguished himself as a versatile songwriter, arranger and guitarist. Original songs, such as, "Wits Against the World" and "Fourth Attempt," are soulful fragments of lost dreams. His song, “Soul of the Nation” Has been covered by Unique Drive on their soon to be released debut CD. Others, such as "Upper Midwest Terrorist Society and Sewing Bee" and "Uncle Chronic," give us insights into his twisted sense of humor. His arrangements of standards like, "Hard Times Come Again No More" and "Long Black Veil" are fresh and emotional.
Along with Murphey is Teresa Frank on vocals and, at times, Mandolin. As our percussionist, she plays Bodhran, Congas and Djembe. Teresa's harmonies sweeten the texture.
Bonnie Hanna-Powers- Bonnie has a background in theater and performance art, and is currently a fire dancer for fun. Her harmonies are bright and expressive, while her lead vocals lend a blues quality to the mix. Her renditions of songs like "Wild Mountain Thyme" paint pictures in our minds.
Our latest addition is switch-hitter Josh "Hochef" Lueth, on bass, guitar, mandolin, fiddle and vocals. His songwriting has brought another point of view to the table and has broadened our musical horizons.
Murphey’s Midnight Rounders has performed at Festivals, Pubs, Clubs, and Coffeehouses around the Midwest and beyond.
