Joey Clarkson / Bio

Ever since Joey Clarkson was a small child, adults were constantly telling her to lower her speaking voice and stop shouting. It was no secret that she had a set of lungs, as she could be found hanging from the doorknob and wailing whenever she didn’t get her way; a child full of volume with no clue how to control it. When her parents enrolled her in a children’s choir at the age of 5, she instantly fell in love with the art of singing. Never afraid to voice her opinion, at the age of 12 Joey taught herself how to play guitar and began writing her life into song to share with whoever would listen.

In June of 2010, Joey released her first full length self titled album “Joey”. This album is a compilation of music inspired by relationships and milestone’s in her life, and was promoted and sold primarily to her extensive network of friends and family. Joey is currently in the studio working on her next album, which has been back set to be released now in 2013, with the tentative title “See You, Love You, Behave Yourself”. This album is comprised of music written about the last two years of her lately nomadic lifestyle, with the main focus of the album being to create and produce radio friendly tracks.

Joey recently placed as a regional winner for Canadian Music Week and Astral Media’s 2012 National competition RadioStar, with her single “MJ (Get Out)”, which has been receiving airplay on several British Columbia radio stations, and has been featured on national and international stations, including: CBC and BBC.

March 2012 Joey was featured in an interview and live performance on BBC in Norfolk which lead to an invitation to another this August. Joey just returned home from her 12 day tour of the UK, with backing vocalist Breanne Larson, which involved 10 gigs in unique venues, including a second interview on BBC radio Norfolk. She was also accompanied by videographer Chad Weber of VI multimedia who documented the 12 day adventure, and turned it into an insiders look at an independently organized international tour through a mini web series.

While on the road , they had the chance to meet and interview several different artists within the local music scenes. They complied this footage to create a documentary style film which was premiered at the BBC film festival in Norfolk on September 22 of 2012.

Joey is currently organizing tours, and in the midst of writing and recording her second album.
