Up Jumped Three is a trio of musicians who all bring unique perspectives and years of experience to the bandstand with regard to composing, selection of material, and overall concept of sound. For Bryan White and Frank Southecorvo (bass and sax, respectively) it reunites the two former bandmates from a prior project, 'Done For The Evening', a trio that focused on a chord-less sound with upright and electric bass, sax, and drums, which gigged actively from 2006 to 2010. Revisiting the trio format after a long hiatus, this time with chords, Frank and Bryan started casually playing together again in mid/late 2013 and did a few one-off gigs. Frank had initially met Tim Winter in 2012 and was immediately taken by his rich tone and interesting playing (on both guitar and bass). Eventually, Frank brought all three musicians together to 'test the waters' and things clicked. After a few rehearsals, it became clear that the music being made was very energetic and exciting, yet delicate and focused with the open environment a drummer-less setting provides. All three members are accomplished and prolific composers, and the sound has evolved into a very unique group already, with tinges of West Coast jazz, free jazz, and more modern elements as well. The group is currently working on a 'proper' studio demo/EP and actively pursuing gigs in the Asheville, NC area, and around the region.
