[ JOSEPH KONTY BIO ]
Born in the summer of 1982, raised in Texas and then moving all around. Joseph Konty has been a common name amongst fans and friends for over a decade now. The work of 8 studio albums, 2 live albums, 9 acclaimed singles and 1 best of collection. Supported with countless tours, album sales, and videos. His career has been built solely on his original material and look.
All fueled, structured, and inspired by his Father who started it by managing his son when Joseph was 15. They started Konty Enterprises together in 2005 after Joseph graduated college in Eugene, OR. This was the platform needed to expand his career to where it needed to go. In 2010 Joseph married Photographer and Designer Rachel Konty. Adding heightened creativity, quality, and services to Konty Enterprises. KEI now focuses on music, photography, marketing design and fashion. His past and future success is due to the work of his Father. And, his unconditional love for his son.
Joseph is currently preparing new music for a new album release coming off the success of his 2011 album, “Sweet Soul Music.” Partnered with new show dates to support these works. He is a member of The Recording Academy, BMI, and The Tualatin Chamber Of Commerce. He also recently was the long acting music sub K - 8th at MITCH Charter School in Tualatin, OR where he lives. Bringing his years of study and experience to the younger generations.
Musically, instrumentally and vocally Joseph has always be inspired by Gospel music, Soul, R&B and Motown. “I really got turned on to all of it while attending church in Texas and singing in the choir, along with the music my mother & father enjoyed. Plus the new waves of R&B with my older brother’s Montell Jordan cassette. There was a station that played slow jams on Friday and Saturday nights. I would sit for hours and marvel in the sounds coming out of my big stereo my Grandad gave me. I went down other roads musically for a while; due primarily to the culture around me, along with some insecurity I had. Finally, I decided I needed to do the things I loved." Joseph.
Joseph's voice, songwriting, and guitar playing do not come from any particular influence, just his own creativity. However, he has always noted being inspired by the artistry of such as artists as Marvin Gaye, Prince, Curtis Mayfield, Eddie Willis, Smokey Robinson and Johnny “Guitar” Watson. Another key factor to his development is his pursuit of music studies during his undergraduate years while getting his degree in Counseling & Religious studies. And, continued studies of music in pursuit of graduate work. He has had some of the finest teachers in music and continues his education and training to this date.
Joseph and his family still focus on what they have always wanted the music to be about with a movement called, “Social Love, Groove Dance.” The movement is bringing education, attention and resources to many philanthropic groups doing great work for others in our world. Konty has always noted the one reason he desires to expand his career. It is to gain resources and a stage to let the world know we must Love one another and we must take care of each other. Enjoy this artist and the love he shares.
