The Conscious Daughters are undisputedly one of the most prominent female rap duos in music. Most known as the Bay Area’s hottest female group, the Daughters (CMG & Special One) have sold over 800,000 records worldwide.
They exploded on the scene with “Fonky Expedition”, which officially put CMG and The Special One on the map, with their debut album, "Ear to the Street" selling over 300,000 copies and yielding a cross-country tour. With three singles and three videos from that project, The Conscious Daughters had finally gained national recognition.
Their second effort, Gamers was released and sold over 200,000 copies, entering the Billboard Chart with a bullet. By continuing to bring bangin’ beats to the streets, TCD once again rocked the world with their female baller anthems.
In 2007, Nas released the track "Where Are They Now (West Coast Remix)" which features West Coast veterans Breeze, Kam, King Tee, Candyman, Threat, Ice-T, Sir Mix-A-Lot and the Conscious Daughters.
In 2009, TCD's third album The Nutcracker Suite, produced by Paris and Sacramento producer Rick Rock, was released on Guerilla Funk Records. It is yet anoother masterpiece of hardcore beats and vicious flows from the verteran MCs. Now in 2011, The Conscious Daughters have inked a distribution deal with Phaseone/Sony Red and are back in the studio recording a new album - slated for release in September (currently untitled).
