ESTEP are four lads who write and perform music the mainstream warned you about. Originating from El Paso, Texas, they derive their sound from a number of influences including mid-50's rock, 80's BritPOP. Some have called them the second coming of the Housemartins, or Texas' answer to GENE. One thing's for sure, ESTEP is witty and melodic culmination of passion, ardor, zeal, obsession and cocktails.
Fronted by the musically muscular vocalist Dennis Estep, the band blends the musical echoes of the late 80's/90's into a modern orgasm of sound that has dubbed them one of El Paso, Texas most enduring, premiere original bands. Joining Mr. Estep in his quest for viable music is the brilliant guitarist/songwriter/musical director John Hernandez, veteran bassist/songwriter Frank Nava, guitarist/songwriter James Gutierrez and brilliant drummer Gus Arellano.
The band is very passionate about creating viable music that can transcend genres by emphasizing on quality songwriting and infectious melodies. ESTEP, have been promoting their current single "Wondering" (some radio play) as well as playing shows with well known national and international acts as: Anything Box, Modern English, The Sweet and Tender Hooligans and Gene Loves Jezebel. ESTEP 's EP titled "Wondering", which is available as a re-release in 2007 will be coupled with a new release to be named soon. Back from a year's hiatus, the band has hopes of bringing their musical message to the masses in the coming year.
