Composing the Apocalypse is a metal band comprised of members hailing from "all over the place, CT", but proudly calls Windsor home. Originally, the brain child of Jesse James and Matt Shanahan, the band started in 2011 as a project and creative outlet. After some time, the band acquired drummer, Colin Mahoney and bassist, Brian Noble and decided to push the project further as a full-fledged band. Having influences and inspirations from bands and musician's all over the world, it's hard to really typecast their sound. With various elements of metal, the songs are crafted to appease their own appetites but have found a home in the hearts of music lovers of many different genres. The elements of thrash, doom, death and black metal along with the occasional clean vocals, offer something to almost everyone who is a true fan of music. This was something completely unintentional, on the band’s part. With the first three songs completed (What Lies Beneath, Topsy Kretts, and Divine Myth), the band set out to play their first gig, a battle of the bands to get on the 2013 New England Metal and Hardcore Fest. Composing The Apocalypse won the first round of the battle and came in a close third at the end of final round. Following this show, the band took on Tanner Johnson as their second guitarist. With the lineup complete, CTA continued to write and play shows throughout 2013, competing in the battle of the bands to get on the 2013 Vans Warped Tour and playing Posidemic Ntertainment’s (http://www.facebook.com/posidemicntertainment) first three “5 Bands For 5 Bucks” shows. During this time, they wrote three more songs (Crack Open A Cold One, Punch You In The Face, and Letting Go) while recording What Lies Beneath and Topsy Kretts, but decided only to keep Punch You In The Face. Taking a break after playing a Halloween show, the band attempted to record the rest of the material and write some new songs. In early January of 2014, Colin and Brian left the band for reasons unknown. After a brief meeting between Jesse, Matt, and Tanner, Composing The Apocalypse decided to press on...(Enter Mike Motta and Stephen Kriksciun...stage right). With Mike Motta and Stephen Kriksciun, both well accomplished musicians in their own rights, have joined the ranks. With Mike on drums and Stephen on bass, it no longer became about pressing on, but rather how far does this band want to go? Both Stephen and Mike are classically trained musicians, bringing not only incredible skills on multiple instrument, and winning personalities, but the ability to collaboratively help with the creative process. An immense wealth of music theory, composition and arrangements, along with influences from multiple genres. Composing the Apocalypse is now working on new matierial, having just wrote "Party of None" and now playing shows again, the Apocalypse is looking like it's going to be a hell of a good time.
