SPA CITY BLUES SOCIETY WINNER SINGLE/DUO 2013
SPA CITY BLUES SOCIETY WINNER BEST SELF PRODUCED CD OF 2013
LITTLE ROY GENE - VOCALS/GUITAR.....BEEN AROUND A LONG TIME...STARTED PLAYING GIGS IN TEXAS AROUND 1971. STILL ALIVE...STILL PLAYIN...IT'S A GOOD THING.
"I was born in DeQueen, Arkansas, home town of Collin Raye. Close to the Oklahoma border, DeQueen is like most border towns anywhere, full of real people with the real blues. You are born with the blues, live with the blues, get used to the coming and going, restless movement. Have you ever stood next to a train track as the big engine rolled by? Ever feel that thump in your body? Well that's like a border town; it brings out that rhythm. You can not help it. It's got a hold on some and some lucky ones can put it aside. I am one who can not. I don't think I need help.
It has never been about me, always has been about the songs. I started writing songs about 50 years ago. I am proud to say that when I play, I always play my songs. Maybe not totally for the whole night, but the point is that for a long, long time I have been playing my own music. And I have to say that for the first time I am set to play 100% all original and I am comfortable with that. This new album is the simplest and best music I have ever written.
I have played clubs all over Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, California, Oklahoma, Louisiana.......I have opened for Jerry Jeff Walker, Doug Kershaw, David Allen Coe, Side of the Road Gang, Bandana, Boz Scaggs, B.W. Stevenson, Steve Fromholtz, and many more.
Always playing, always writing, always enjoying people who enjoy this vibration we call Music." LRG
Finally after years of trying to fit in, LRG has written, arranged, and produced his first album in many years. This music reflects the 40 plus years of playing tonks and joints all over the south. It is the Blues. No matter what song LRG was singing, when he made it his own, it came out the Blues. Now finally the music fits the man. FULL GROWN MAN is a testament to the music genre known as, The Blues.
