Kryss Dula has been playing music since 1981. Originally from Charlotte, NC, he has resided in Johnson City, TN since 2004. He plays out an average of a couple of times per month under the name 'Kryss Dula & Friends,' where the latter consists of a large group of outstanding musicians. They never take money to perform, as Kryss is blessed with a great day job and thus has the privilege of playing for others without need for compensation. His group has played with many local bands, and he takes pride in helping to promote the original work of others. They often play charity events to help support a variety of causes. The group composition changes from gig to gig, and they are capable of playing virtually any event, with set ups ranging from solo acoustic, to several players, to a large band format. In the latter configuration, the group was honored to open for Train at the ETSU SGA Spring Concert in 2013. They can perform with a folk, bluegrass, Celtic and/or a rock vibe. Kryss also writes his own music, oscillating from folk to rock in style, and he released his first full-length solo album in 2013. Thanks to a wonderful group of extended friends who supplied substantial crowd-funding, he was able to press 1,500 CDs, all of which are to be given away for free.
