The Black Lights are a collective of four (more or less) grown men who hail from the hills and dales of Central Scotland, formed in early 2006.
In the last year they have found what will henceforth be referred to as the 'classic' lineup, generations from now and have since taken the word to the street, playing across the length and breadth of their native Scotland with renowned acts as GUN, Black Spiders, Slaves To Gravity and the mighty Anvil, gaining many followers in the process.
The debut album, 'Rock Awesome', was released in August 2010 and supported by a national tour in support.
"This debut is bold, balls out, and so much fun.... my iTunes is post coital and smoking."
The rest of the year will see them supporting the album by doing what they do best:
Steel-lunged vocals spitting out melodies that cling to your conscience with VD-like enthusiasm, enough riffz 'n' drumz to blow a hole deep enough for sans-bullshit lyrics to be fully absorbed and live shows that remind you just why sweaty lager soaked venues are infinitely preferable to listening at home with the volume at 4.
If you happen to be tired and sick of the re-processed hippity hop beats, affected accents that plague sanitised 'indie' like a drunken mistake and the whiny bubblegum melodrama of fringe-wielding teenagers then The Black Lights offer a guilt-free and refreshingly honest alternative, one that puts tunes before eyeliner, passion above fashion and integrity above all else. Put simply, The Black Lights rock.
