Whitney Marchelle is an international performing, recording & educational songwriting artist with a 4 octave range. Her style encompasses many aspects of American music form straight-ahead, bebop, funk, jazz and R&B. Whitney also plays piano/guitar and has several size groups including big band writes and arranges. Ms. Marchelle has performed in many venues throughout the New York area including Apollo, Carnegie Hall, Blue Note Jazz Club,Lenox Lounge, Minton's Playhouse, Zinc Bar, Cotton Club, Jazz Foundation Events, and many more. Internationally she has performed at Dusit Dubai Hotel, Singapore Harry's Bar, Berklee Conservatory in Kobe Japan among others. The many artists Whitney has performed with include Herbie Hancock, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Tom Browne, Wycliffe Gordon,Frank Lacy, Tia Fuller Danny Mixon,Clark Terry, Abyssinian choir,Patience Higgins, and more. Also several Presidential affairs (big band,group, guitar/vocal, piano/vocal)
Whitney's recording credits are vast and consist of Jeremy Pelt, Wycliffe Gordon, Clark Terry, Quincy Jones, Steve Turre, Spirits UP Above album, Mr. Gadget, Camile Thurman, Russell Hall, Carmen Intorre, Spike Lee State Farm Insurance commercial, Terreon Gully, Kofie Burbridge, among others. She has also opened for Fathead Newman, Bill Withers and KISS. Other performances with Mustafa Big Band,Patience Higgins,Rochester Educators Big Band, Bill Dobbins,Drake University Big Band, Helen Sung, Bertha Hope, Kim Thompson, Wayne Newton Orchestra,Curtis Lundy, Clark Terry Rhythm section, Freda Payne, Witches Brew, Jackson Sisters, Don Deigo, Sabu Adeyola,Chester Whitmore, and many more. Whitney has received several song writing awards along with articles appearing in Jazz Times,Alize lavie Magazine,JAZZIZ, LIVE Magazine in Dubai, and other publications. Ms. Marchelle has also appeared at many festivals including Atlanta Jazz festival, Art Deco Festival ,Seaport festival, Jazz In July Festival, Rochester Jazz Festival, African Festival, Seneca Island , Balloon Festival, Lighting of the Torch Festival in Singapore, Mississippi Blues Festival and the list goes on.
Her educational cd entitled CHANNEL MY JAZZ RADIO has just been completed and will be released soon with her arrangements and a composer of 9 of the 15 selections some which can be heard on this site.
