Random Thinking is a band formed by the siblings Aurora (vocals, guitar) and Ángel Pérez (lead guitar), born and raised in Cádiz. They began their studies in music when they were just teenagers and they started to write their own songs back then, being greatly influenced by British and American music from the 60s and 70s and from other contemporary musicians, folk, blues and rock mainly. Artists like Joni Mitchell, The Allman Brothers, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, Craig Chaquico or Sheryl Crow had much influence over their understanding about music.
They both ended their careers in Chemistry and Engineering in Madrid. At the same time, they perfectionated their musical skills. That's when they started to play their songs around well-known venues in Madrid (Siroco, Contraclub, Boca del Lobo...). Meanwhile, they edit and self-produce their first EP, with six acoustic songs recorded strictly live, the same way it used to be done in the 60-70s. Step by step, they established contact with artists and people from the music industry that are interested in the strong personality and mood of their music.
That's how they began a collaboration with music producer Jaime Roldán (Javier Ojeda, Antílopez…) and renowned local and international musicians like Bernd Voss on the electric guitar (Dionne Warwick, Bonnie Tyler, Delaney Bramlett, Miguel Ríos…), José Mena on the drums (Jorge Drexler, Tito Alcedo…), Alberto Miras on the keyboard (Vanesa Martín, Paco Cepero…), José Manuel Posada "Popo" on the bass guitar (Concha Buika, Vicente Amigo…) or Dani Reus, Leah Young and Alana Sinkëy from Gospel Factory on backing vocals (Jon Secada, Shakira, Juanes…). So, they decided to move the entire band to Madrid in order to record their first LP entitled "Random Thinking" at Pko Studios (one of the best recording studios in the world) with the Grammy awarded music engineer Caco Refojo. Every single note is recorded live to capture the organic nature of their music. After finishing the recording of the LP they signed for the management and promotion agency Alta Fidelidad and started the promotion for the band and the brand new LP coming this autumn.
The album mixes folk, blues, pop, moving through country and rock, catching the listener into a mosaic putting gently together the purity of styles and their unique sound. As a result, you get a fresh breeze with the essences of the best music of several decades renewed by melodies full of expression and gentleness.
The first single is "Off-season" which music video is being officially released in October 2014. The release date of the LP will be December 2014 and will be available on CD/Vinyl and digitally.
