Something Stoic is the joint collaboration of singer/songwriters Lea Holz and Steven Hurst.
Born in Alabama and influenced by a plethora of artists ranging in genre from Country to Soul, Steven Hurst’s passion for the sincere aspects of the human experience drive his performance and songwriting. Striving for originality, his songs are centered around self-reflection, political activism, and spirituality. His powerful, captivating voice carries with it a wisdom and comfort true to his roots, and his eclectic interpretation and presentation of both original and cover material soar above the archetypal standards.
Born in the Midwest and raised by a family of artists and musicians, Lea Holz picked up a dusty Casio keyboard at the age of four, locked herself in her bedroom, and emerged with a haunting repertoire and captivating voice. Intrigued by the natural polarities present in everyday life and fascinated by the human animal, Lea Holz writes with a natural empathy, producing songs that range from rich melancholy and lush sensuality to blunt, unapologetic rawness.
The duo met at an open mic in Boulder, CO, and the rest is history. With powerfully-moving set lists, soaring harmonies and modest charm, Something Stoic is working their way through the Charleston music scene, captivating audiences one heart at a time.
