Plato's Stepchildren is a Charlotte, NC based Instrumental Prog-Rock Band. Formed in October 2013 the power trio consists of Phil Black on Guitar/Synth (Crackers & Snackmeat, Hot House Hefftones), Steve Saldutte on Bass (Chris Sanchez Band, Case Federal & The Agents), and John Peer on Drums (Queen City Dub, Trey Calloway Band).
Searing melodies and swift transitions create the sound of the Queen City's freshest musical offspring: Plato's Stepchildren. With hints of Phish grooves infused with blazing Mars Volta-esque riffs, combining the jam band and structured chaos, the trio projects an energy that is infectious and will ease its way deep in to your subconscious... Plato's Stepchildren is resetting the needle, redefining the meaning of progressive, and reinvigorating a part of Charlotte's music scene that lay dormant until now.
The band just released its self titled debut album in July of 2014 and is continuing to blaze their path to the festival circuit, turning heads along the way at every venue they play.
