2014 Unsigned Only Semi Finalist for 4 songs in 7 categories, 2013 International Songwriting Competition Semi Finalist, young singer/songwriter Danielle Marie from Edmonton, Alberta has always had a passion for music. At the early age of just 10 months old Danielle could be heard singing her ABC's loud and proud. She participated in early music programs and continued with music/band in school until 2011 when she decided to pursue her music seriously on her own.
Heavily influenced by Ed Sheeran and Adele, Danielle released her first EP July 16, 2013 into the Folk/Alt Folk Genre. While it gained popularity quickly and even became #1 locally on ReverbNation, she felt there was more. A month later she headed to Nashville with 5 more songs in hand to record a full album and music video under the Pop/Alt Rock genre. After many crowd reviews it has been suggested that her music could easily cross into the Alt Country genre. The album, More Than Just a Girl, is now available on iTunes.
With just 6 months on ReverbNation, over 600,000 plays, 25,000 fans and currently #1 locally, #1 Nationally and Globally sitting in the top 10 on the ReverbNation charts, Danielle is starting to gain a lot of international attention. Making a music video gave Danielle a chance to indulge her other love of acting. Within 24 hours of posting, Danielle’s controversial video “Mad Kicks” reached over 10,000 plays on YouTube.
Her viral success on ReverbNation has helped her build a substantial mailing list (aprox 500 signups a week). She has attracted the attention of a number of industry heavyweights including Canadian Country star Gord Bamford and Miami based Grammy award winning producer Lu Diaz (known for his work with Pitbull). She has sung the Canadian National Anthem for the Women's Olympic Hockey Team. Even in these early stages Canadian radio is starting to add her single. Most recently she has been scouted for Miss Teen Canada Globe. Danielle is also the current 10-Dance United States National A Closed Silver Ballroom dance Champion which she conquered in September. Not only did she win, but she placed 1st in ALL dances. Most recently she has been chosen to play for Music Week 2014 in Toronto which showcases 1,000 bands and is one of the premier entertainment events in North America focusing on the business of music.
