Dynasty Band is a Maryland-based band consisting of 14 talented musicians that bonded through their love of music, friendship and anime. They formed in 1994 as a band formerly known as Raw Groove and started performing in the summer of 1995. Feeling it was time for a mature, attitude sound and look they changed the name to Dynasty Band in 2001.
Dynasty Bands music is rooted in Go-Go, but it borrows elements from a much wider musical palette such as R&B, Jazz, Rap, Hip Hop and Neo-Soul. The band distinctive sounds and talent originates from Vocalists Dave (Dappa) Cater and Chris (StyLo) Dixon presently while acquiring new vocalist to fill voids of the members who departed from Dynasty Band to pursue other music options. We now have on Keyboards: PJ (Newdy) Tims and Lynel (DaDocta) Dock; Horns consist of Michael (Fitz) Fitzhugh on trumpet, Michael (Mike) Chambers on sax, and Paul (Phife) Phifer playing the trombone. Our Lead Guitar player is Habib Samuels and Bass Guitar is Kado. On Drums we have Tony Black, Andre (Dre) Tillery on congas and Jamaal Moore with the percussions.
Since then, they have received the opportunity to perform at various venues throughout the Washington DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia area. Which consisted of Legends Night Club, Club Elite, Layla Lounge, My Place Sports Bar, Mary Golds, Half Note, Karma Lounge, Takoma Station, Capitol Bar & Grille, Haydees, Club Levels, Azores, Mirrors, Club MVP, Stonefish Bar & Grille, Café 611,Tuckers Bar & Lounge, Senate Inn, Presidential Golf Club, Fast Eddies and host of other venues.
With the numerous performance locations Dynasty Band has had the opportunity to perform with elite bands that goes by the names of Chuck Brown, Bela Dona, Vybe, Lissen, Listen the Band, E.U., Suttle Thought, What Band, Junk Yard Band, and Rare
