Vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Unity Nguyen weaves together musical cultures and languages from many continents, artfully blending ancient Vietnamese, African folk traditions, contemporary jazz and funk. This delightful alchemy transcends boundaries of culture, language and spirit. Unity specializes in the African Kora (21-string harp) and the Vietnamese Dan Tranh (16-string zither), with a background in African and Latin percussion, and European classical theory. She performs solo, or with the Unity Nguyen Ensemble.
Music is part of Unity’s joyous healing path: she holds an MD from UCSF School of Medicine, and practices integrative acupuncture in San Francisco. She also shares her passion by teaching and facilitating music workshops for all ages.
