Rex Mac is a composer rooted heavily in the blues/classic rock guitar stylings of the late 60's and 70's with a noticeable 90's influence. In 2001 Rex co-founded the hard rock band "Dead by Dawn" featuring Brent Underwood (Nephilym, Messenger of Hope, Drayton Road) on vocals. "Dead by Dawn" became a regular band at Jester's Pub in Fayetteville, NC and aquired a loyal fan base that followed them until the end. Rex stepped down from DBD in 2003 to work on a new concptual project that would later become the band "Forgotten". This time out, Rex teamed up with Pittsburgh native Kip Weeks who provided howling vocals to compliment Rex's growling guitars. Although they enjoyed some local success playing in the Myrtle Beach area, "Forgotten" was, unfortunatley, an "on again off again" affair and finally came to an end in 2010. Since then, Rex has filled in for other local bands, performing as a guest on recordings and doing one off apperances popping up in smaller local venues and such along the Grand Strand. Rex's latest solo effort, "Born on the 4th of July" is a collection of instrumental tracks inspired by conservative values, a love of family, God and country. Look for the EP "Born on the 4th of July" to be released later this year.
