Ken Hall (nylon and steel string guitar, flute, and oud)
Ken Hall studied composition at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto before travelling to Europe to study flamenco guitar in Seville Spain, and Arabic oud and Ney flute in Fez Morocco. Ken has been a founding member of several west coast world music ensembles and a professional musician in Victoria BC for 30 years.
Niel Golden (tabla, hang and cajon)
Over more than three decades, Niel Golden has worked with traditional Indian classical musicians, orchestras, choirs and roots and blues artists such as Xavier Rudd and Harry Manx. He has also been nominated for a Juno and a Western Canadian Music Award, and performs and composes on the new and elusive Hang (pronounced Hung), a flying saucer-esque instrument from Switzerland invented in the year 2000.
Enrique Rivas (nylon string guitar, tres and percussion)
At an early age, Enrique Rivas started playing Venezuelan folk music on the “cuatro” (cousin of the ukulele) and the “tambora” (a large barrel-shaped drum). Later he explored various types of Latin-American music, specifically the ones with African roots, learning guitar and several percussion instruments. In Victoria BC he's played in various traditional, pop and jazz groups and worked as Musician/Sound Designer for Puente Theatre.
Wynn Gogol (upright bass, uke bass and accordion)
Wynn Gogol has always been curious about how music works. His musical journey has included a classical music degree, a stint composing for film and television and a wide range of projects in the recording studio, where he works as a music producer and mixer. Wynn's new book The Artful Songwriter is available at artfulsongwriter.com. "The Artful Songwriter is like having an experienced literary songwriting partner, with an eclectic record collection."
