Accomplished progressive bassist, and visionary artist
WPR’s primary musical background involves experimental, conceptual, and theme-based progressive hard rock. Hailing from San Diego CA, but having made the Seattle-area his home for the past decade, WPR is known as a utility player who can also deliver on vocals or guitar; but is currently concentrating on his strongest and most enduring skill – his bassmanship.
Now currently involved in the hard rock/progressive metal band "Enemy Worldwide", WPR and his band mates have scored a coup by landing ex Urban Collapse front man Dane Larsen. The band has since been writing an assortment of material, and plan on doing some comprehensive recording and live performances in the imminent future.
WPR’s background and influences on bass guitar are what have molded his particular style. He had cut his teeth on the likes of Geddy Lee’s progressive chops and time signatures, Geezer Butler’s doomy licks, Lemmy's bombastic thunder, Mel Schacher's blue-eyed funk, and Roger Waters’ ability to conceptualize the sounds and images he hears in his head. His former projects were as bass player/keyboardist of Mercy Road, lead singer of MadDawgz, and 2nd guitarist/vocalist of Granite Reign; in addition to multitudes of other loosely-configured projects and outfits. WPR’s goal is to record his own Magnum Opus for purposes of posterity.
His basses include a 1980 Rickenbacker 4001, and a custom-built 2013 Carvin SB4000 jazz bass. He also performs on his 1969 Gibson SG, 1961 Guild Starfire III, 1960 Gretsch Streamliner, and a 2006 Fender Telecaster MIM electric guitars. He uses modern Fender and vintage Road amplification. Effects chain: EHX Riddle Q-Balls envelope filter, EHX Big Muff Pi distortion, Morley Power Wah/Fuzz volume pedal, Ibanez DFL digital flanger, EHX Nano Small Stone EH4800 phase shifter, iSP Technologies Decimator noise gate, Catalinbread Echorec echo/delay unit.
