I started performing solo in 2008 when a promoter heard about me and asked me to play this small show. Up until that point, I had always played in bands. Folk, dub, experimental, metal, blues, rock.... you name it.
I left the United States in 2010 to study the Korean language (what could have been my first language had my mother not been orphaned in the Korean War) at Yonsei University in Seoul. There I started to learn jazz and changed my entire approach to music. I began charting out my songs for other musicians to play them with me.
Upon my return to Korea I began hitting all the local clubs with a backing band called Sugar Sauce, and I recorded my first album with Spirit Vision Studios. I took this album and performed on it locally as well as in New York and Curitiba, Brazil.
I'm currently working with Sugar Sauce toward a tour of California this summer and then cutting the next album this fall. By next year, I plan to move into Koreatown, Los Angeles. Keep an ear out!
