Mina is a New York based pianist/composer who is originally from Japan. She has been influenced by several French Impressionist composers, especially Claude Debussy.
She is exploring music from various genres and combining different styles into her original music.
Born in Kanagawa, Japan, Mina started playing piano at the age of 3. She performed piano concerto as a soloist with the Chiba Youth Orchestra at the age of 15. She majored in classical piano at Kunitachi College of Music.
In 2008, Mina moved to NY to expand her horizons and to continue her music studies.
She studied jazz piano under Michael Kanan and Larry Ham. In 2010, she enrolled in the
City College of New York, where she studied jazz with great musicians, such as John Patitucci,
Mike Holober and Ray Gallon, and earned her B.F.A in jazz performance in 2012.
As a student, she received the Fritz Johoda Award two times which is given to a talented pianist.
Since graduating from the City College of New York, Mina has been playing at several music venues in NY with different bands, including a vocal duo and rock band, where she has been playing as a keyboard/synthesizer player since 2011.
Mina is currently devoting herself to composing her original songs including compositions for piano solos.She also provides songs and piano arrangements for singers.
