Ms Mara is a creative Christian Songwriter/Rapper with an undeniably zeal to do God’s will. Born in Augusta, Georgia and raised in Twin City, Georgia, Ms Mara developed a love for writing early on. During childhood, Ms Mara frequently engrossed in poetry writing prior to composing music lyrics. She explains “Writing assisted me with temporarily escaping my reality I could freely express myself without fear of being judge.”Around the age of 19 Ms Mara began converting poetry to music lyrics, with assistance from a childhood friend which happen to be a local rapper. Anxiety accompanied with limitations prolonged Ms Mara’s music endeavors.
Searching for a new beginning and liberation Ms Mara relocated to Dover, Delaware in 2005. Completely aware of the career opportunities a higher education could provide, Ms Mara made a conscience decision to enroll in college. She went on to graduate from Delaware Technical & Community College with a diploma in Case Management and Associate Degree in Criminal Justice in 2007 and a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Wilmington University in 2008. However, it was during college years that she connected with Juan Carter, a producer, recording engineer, songwriter, rapper, and CEO of Urban Legend Entertainment. Ms Mara became the 1st Lady of Urban Legend Entertainment. With Juan’s assistance Ms Mara recorded and released her first studio album “Might Die Tonight.” The album was a hit locally selling hundreds of copies independently which in turn created new music opportunities in Philadelphia, Wilmington, Dover, and Maryland area. Ms Mara went on to feature on mixtapes such as “Sweet Georgia Peach,” “Welcome to Delaware Volume 1” hosted by DJ AMPZ from BET’s Rap City and 106 & Park.
It appeared Ms Mara had it all, education, local fame, money, entourage, etc. However, internally she was fighting a far deeper battle. Torn at the fact she had strayed so far away from God and subjected herself to an alternative lifestyle became displeasing to Ms Mara. Aware of the inability to effectively serve two masters Ms Mara was faced with a life altering decision,serve God or Riches. In 2008 she rededicated her life to Christ and moved to Brooklyn, New York. While living in Brooklyn Ms Mara grew closer to God reading the Bible, praying, attending church, and studying Christian literature. Ms Mara would later relocate to Atlanta, Georgia in 2008 to pursue career goals of becoming a therapist. While enrolled at Argosy University pursuing a Master’s in Community Counseling, Ms Mara realized that she had only suppressed her love for music but it never ceased. Eager to use the gift of music for God’s kingdom, Ms Mara began working on her second studio album. The new album “Façade Decease” was released on May 3, 2013 and is currently available on itunes, AmazonMP3, Google Play Store, Xbox Music, and other digital stores.
More recently Ms Mara cofounded Radiant Music Ministry and travels ministering through music. She also works part time as a therapist with probation and parole. She explains “I now know my calling; I was created to assist people with different aspects of life, and to minister through music.”
