“I love the edge and intensity in your vocals. You grab the attention of the listener and hold it!”
Keeping country tradition alive, this three time female artist award nominee will deliver a powerful performance with her strong, clear country voice to deliver the stories of her song writing talents.
In May 2008, Shelly Dubois released her debut CD ‘I’m Not Looking Back’. All ten songs are penned by Dubois - ‘About Men’, ‘I’m Not Lookin’ Back’ and ‘Time for Leavin’ all receive internet radio in Canada, the United States, Austria, France and the Netherlands. Shelly also released the single “This Town” written by notable Nashville songwriter Gretchen Peters in 2012. Shelly will be releasing new singles in 2014 working towards the release of an EP in early 2015. Her first single "FLOWERS" was released April 2, 2014, followed by "CRAZY LOVIN' YOU" and "TIME".
Having experienced the loss of her daughter to brain cancer shortly after the release of her debut CD, Shelly set all business aside and focused her attention to her family. In memory of her daughter Chantal, and wanting to ‘give back,’ the Dubois family established “The Chantal Dubois Memorial Fund”, a resource available for families that find themselves in need of financial assistance during their child’s battle with cancer. Three dollars of each CD sale is donated to this fund, as well as other monies raised through fundraising performances. While living in British Columbia, Shelly worked with the BC Childhood Cancer Association and helped raise over $10,000 that was donated to various families going through this crisis. Now a resident back in Alberta, Shelly is currently touring the province performing shows in support of Helping Families Handle Cancer – a non-profit organization based in Calgary that provides financial support to families that have a child battling cancer.
In 2011, Shelly was nominated in three categories with the BC Country Music Association for Female Vocalist, Horizon Award, and Traditional Country Award and she also performed in the New Artist Showcase. Shelly moved back to her native Alberta in 2012 and after one year, Shelly was very pleased to be nominated by the Alberta Country Music Association in two categories: 2012 Female Artist and Fan’s Choice and once again for 2013 Female Artist.
