Southern Fryed is one of Cheyenne Wyoming’s hottest country acts! They bring a high energy performance with their unique flavor of Rocky Mountain Red Dirt Country. Past performances include Sculley Shooters in North Platte, Buckin Harleys in Denver, The Boot in Ft Collins, headlining the Kimball Farmer’s Day Concert and Cheyenne Frontier Days party zone opener for Lady A, Florida Georgia Line, Gary Allen and Dwight Yochum just to name a few. They make their first appearance in Omaha at Bushwackers Dance Hall and Saloon in April 2015. Other notable shows in 2015 include kicking off the Greeley Stampede opening for national act Granger Smith, headlining the 4th of July Celebration Concert in Guernsey WY, headlining the Wyoming Platte County Fair, headlining the Kimball Farmers Day Concert and Friday on the Plaza Concert Series as well as Cheyenne Frontier Days. Southern Fryed will be releasing their debut album “Blue Collar Town” in the summer of 2015. Front man Russ Brown is a former North Platte, NE native has been serving in the US Air Force for 19 years. Early on, he competed in the Colgate Country Showdown and was a semi-finalist for America’s Rising Stars. In 2005 he was signed to Music City Network as part of a promotion deal. After the company folded that year Russ continued to write songs and follow his passion. In 2008 he formed the band known today as Southern Fryed.
Bass player Andy Woods originally from Wheatland WY is a Realtor in Cheyenne. In his early years he played drums in a rock band while in high school traveling Wyoming and Nebraska. Following high school, Andy played in a variety of bands in Cheyenne until becoming a permanent member of Southern Fryed. Originally brought on as the drummer, the band needed a bass player so Andy stepped up and has become a five string fury.
Lead guitarist Jack Porter originated in Carpenter WY is a highly touted diesel mechanic in Cheyenne. He has played for different bands in the area. His extraordinary talent caught the eye of the band and after 6 days with Southern Fryed he made his debut performance at Cheyenne Frontier Days. In addition, he moonlights as a bass player for another local Cheyenne band.
Drummer Jeff Gapter we all know as “El Jefe” originally haled from Arizona, now is cattle rancher in Wheatland WY and father-in-law to our bass player Andy. While in Arizona he played for different traveling rock bands and was an All-Around State Rodeo Champion. Through an obvious source, El Jefe landed a spot with the band and has kept the beat for Southern Fryed over several years.
