Seven Stars Music is the marketing and publishing company of Los Angeles based musician Matthew Huerta. Featuring his music and artistic endeavors from various musical spectra, including World, Experimental and American Music Traditions. The New Blue Sun Trio EP, Hope: In The Epoch Of Chaos is the inaugural release and introduction on the Seven Stars Music label.
The New Blue Sun Trio is a three piece rhythm ensemble that is conscious and knowledgeable concerning the history, legacy and future of American Music Traditions. The music is a straightforward and honest revisit of the aesthetics of the tradition deeply rooted in BeBop and Blues. There is a simplistic quality to the approach pianist, composer, band leader, Matthew Huerta applies to his compositions. Huerta bases his themes on simple melodic phrases that contrast the different time signatures and rhythmic grooves. They cohesively move in a synergetic dynamism. The tunes were written as simple chord melody lead sheets with limited details, giving the rhythm players and soloist especially, freedom to lead the exploration of improvisational possibilities.
The New Blue Sun Trio are currently supporting the release of their CD, Hope: In The Epoch of Chaos by playing venues throughout the Los Angeles area.
The New Blue Sun Trio rhythm section is supported by bassist JP Maramba and drummer Miles Senzaki, with additional keyboards and organ played by Charles ‘Chuck Boogie’ Moore. Maramba and Senzaki are both seasoned, Los Angeles based musicians who have played their fair share of sessions, tours and performances around the world, in a wide range of music genres. They are well versed in the knowledge of American, European and specific music traditions throughout the world. Maramba’s list of credits include Van Hunt, LP, Alan Pasqua, Joey Dosik, Lucas Nelson(son of Willie) and Jagari Chanda of Witch. Senzaki also provides his services in the Los Angeles music scene by working and touring with Breakestra, My Hawaii, Young Hunting and the Gary Fukushima Trio.
