Jane Peppler found seven little songbooks published by record store owner and bookseller Itzik Zhelonek in Warsaw, Poland in 1933-1934, books with names like "The Newest Theater Songs." He was a big fan! Unfortunately he published only the words (as they were sung by the stars of the day when they came through town or when they recorded on Syrena Electra and other such labels). Jane's been tracking down the melodies and now has found 101 of the 127 songs. Follow the search at http://polishjewishcabaret.com
The first cd of this material is called "In Odess" and is available from http://skylark2.com
