Nikki was born in 1999 in Sacramento, California and moved to Elk Grove, California in 2004. She was raised by her mother and older brother and sister. At 10 years old, Nikki became interested in playing guitar and was inspired to learn by a close family friend, Dennis Aguliar, who taught himself to play by watching You Tube videos. Following his lead, Nikki found an old guitar in the closet and taught herself basic chords and rhythms.
Nikki performed for the first time in public when she played for her sixth grade graduation ceremony at Stonelake Elementary School. She caught the eyes and ears of the local audience and was invited to appear on Good Day Sacramento, a local morning television show.
Family friend Dennis Aguliar moved in with the family and Dennis and Nikki played guitars “all day everyday!” In April 2012, Nikki attended a family friendly Open Mic Night at The Elk Grove Sports Bar hosted by another local music duo, The Taylor Chicks.
“We were amazed by her poise, guitar skills, and her incredible voice, especially for someone who was only 13 at the time” said Cheri LaDue, a member of The Taylor Chicks.
“The Chicks” took Nikki under their wing and began mentoring her by bringing her with them to many of their local gigs where she gained even more poise and confidence. She and friend Jon Myrick partnered to write and play together.
Nikki always mesmerizes the crowd wherever she plays. She joined Sunny Dragon Records in 2012 and is working with producer and owner Curtis Hilderband on the completion of her first EP.
Although she loves playing her favorite covers, Nikki is an accomplished songwriter and has an incredibly bright future ahead of her!
Nikki will be a freshmen at Elk Grove High School in the Fall of 2013!
