Becoming a songwriter / musician started for me at a young age first being influenced by the Beatles and graduating to bands such as The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Mike Bloomfield from Super Session, and John Mayall. While playing with hot regional club bands (such as The Just %, The Sound Castle, and Kaine Mutiny)in my teens and early twenties, my interest in music grew into the formal study of Choral Music and Symphonic Music Composition. My song writing / performing was interrupted by a several decade stent in the fields of Arts and Resort Management. Despite non - song writing career endeavors, I managed to complete Music and Arts Administration degrees from The University of Oregon Masters degree program, Southern Oregon University and Boston University. My last Arts Management position was as Managing Producer of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Jazz / Blues series before returning full time to song writing and performing. I also spent several years as a General Manager / consultant in the resort industry including a property adjacent to Aretha Franklin's home outside of Detroit when I got the Diva.
In 2007 , I had finally had my fill of sacrificing my true love of songwriting and performing for a business management career, bought some recording gear and instruments, wrote some new heartfelt songs, and got back on track with songwriting and recording full time finally deciding to put some of my pieces out there for review to see if I was headed down the right path. I play all the instrumental and vocal parts on my recordings and really dig playing the one man band scene though I am in the process of putting together an eight piece band in order to get back into the live performance field. I would call my music spiritually, socially, politically and psychologically eclectic and moving through areas of Rock, Blues, Country, Folk and Jazz.
Hopefully people will enjoy the songs I have selected for their listening and critique and write to inform me which direction they would like me to pursue musically next.
I have also produced the album "Mel" by The Idiot Savants under my Arts production company's direction, Oregon Music and Visual Arts which is available through various retailers to this day. I currently produce a multitude of songs by myself under the name of Jaross Endeavors in Music ( JEM)
