Sarina Bachleitner founded the Jazz Apprenticeship Program in 1996 and is now directing its 17th year as an intensive program for jazz study. She ran an intensive 2-day Jazzathon series at the renown Jazz at Lincoln Center Educational Facility in New York City. As a performer she is the musical director for several jazz ensembles including the successful Top-40's band: SHAKETOWN (a Motown Revue band) and The Jay Stollman Allstar band. For the past 15 years, Ms. Bachleitnmer holds regular engagements at The Lenox Lounge in Harlem NY where she performs original compositions with her jazz quintet. Ms. Bachleitner is the contracting agent for booking her bands at numerous venues throughout NYC and abroad for all types of shows including corporate events, private functions, featured concerts, night clubs and headliners. A native of New York City, Ms. Bachleitner has been a professional cross-over musician for over 20 years. Although much of her work has been as a performer, she has always incorporated teaching as an important part of her career.
Ms. Bachleitner was the director of the Jazz Program at the Manhattan School of Music Prep Division in 1993 where she directed the program,taught all levels of Jazz Harmony and Ear-Training and conducted the Jazz Orchestra until 1996, when she became a member of the jazz faculty at the Music Conservatory of Westchester. She currently travels abroad as a band leader where she is fully active in administrative and musica director responsibilities. In 1985 she founded the committee for the Discover Jazz Festival in Burlington, Vermont, which is now in its 28nd successful year as an international cultural event. Throughout her career she has performed with musicians such as Quincy Jones, Clark Terry, Rufus Reid, Tom Jones, Hugh Fraser, Keith Copeland, Pat LaBarbara, Mo Holmes, the Glenn Miller Orchestra and the Stan Rubin Orchestra and has appeared as the special guest composer on PBS (The Metropolitan Opera Guild), Ms. Bachleitner currently performs in New York City and abroad and continues to promote the idiom of jazz through various educational institutions.
