Alex Siniari (guitar and vocals), Jeff Caraway (mandolin) and Jeremy Senior (drums and cymbals) create a sound so full it can trick your ears into hearing far more than three instruments. With tracks like “olive”, a laid-back tune with a Mediterranean flavor, and “Hangout Artist”, a seething melody with 3 different time signatures, the sound of ARGO has come to be known as “gypsy jazz.”
ARGO is a Southern New Jersey-based band and in July 2013, ARGO won the Open-minded Mic South Jersey Talent Showcase in Atlantic City and in December of that year, ARGO helped raise over $4,000 in a benefit for the Atlantic City Rescue Mission and Covenant House-Atlantic City. ARGO is also the winner of Steel Pier’s Got Talent 2013. Alex, Jeff, and Jeremy are now playing live in galleries, museums, cafes, bars, and festivals in South Jersey and are interested in booking shows in the Pennsylvania and New York.
Jeff is a dapper fellow with 38 years of musical experience, which he can readily apply to any instrument. He began with the piano at age 14 Spending years primarily playing the piano and guitar, Jeff didn’t pick up a mandolin until 2005, but it quickly became the method through which he tells his tale.
Alex is a self-taught guitarist of 6 years who draws inspiration for his writing from his job as a Street Outreach Worker for the Atlantic City Rescue Mission. Through his work at the Atlantic City Rescue Mission, Alex works with the adult homeless and commercially sexually exploited youth of Atlantic City on a daily basis and translates his interactions at work into music with a rawness and realness that addresses the ugly reality of the finite nature of life.
Jeremy Senior is a seasoned technical drummer with 24 years of experience and played the tenors (quints) in the award-winning, Middle Township High School marching band. Jeremy joined ARGO in the fall of 2013, but it was more of a reunion than a meeting as he was the man behind the kit on Alex Siniari's 2010 album, Cyprus, for multiple tracks (on which the piano and mandolin are played by none other than Jeff Caraway).
Weekly rehearsing and writing keep ARGO in tune and on time. The ability to read each other's musical intentions is evident in every performance allowing ample room for improvisation within the structure of each song.
Jeff, Alex, and Jeremy are in the process of recording studio cuts because, "the joy is in the sharing of the feast.” –Dylan Thomas
