Bleed Radio Bleed has been playing its brand of rock informed by elements of punk, psychedelia, and even Latin American music since 2006. The band sounds like what would happen if members of post-hardcore and Bolivian metal bands got together and invited the long time frontman of an indie-pop group to paste the melodies and lyrics from his aborted country solo album over their psychedelic prog-rock songs in a basement studio.
This would never really happen, of course.
Founding members Eric Heidel and Kevin Hilyard previously released an eponymous EP before adding Dave Maietta, Matt Wanamaker, and Alvaro Trigo in 2008. Together, they have continued to tour regionally while recording and releasing their debut full length White Horse / Black Horse in 2010. In 2013, the band released their follow up EP Static and Sketches as a free download.
The band and album draw influence from jealousy; guilt; FAA transcripts of cockpit voice recordings from lost airliners; Jane Jacobs vs Robert Moses; Volcanologist David A Johnston; video of the 1973 Dutch Grand Prix; military prisons; Buckminster Fuller; backpacking the Andes; ladies; and some noisy rock bands.
The new EP Static and Sketches was recorded at Soundfire Studios in Philadelphia and mixed by Sebastián Fernández at Cheebo Studios in La Paz, Bolivia.
White Horse / Black Horse, which was mixed by Vincent Ratti of Zolof the Rock and Roll Destroyer and Mastered by Bill Henderson formerly of Thursday, was being released by Break Even Records, which helped launch the careers of Zolof as well as This Day Forward.
Members of the band formerly played in the power-pop collective Canadian Invasion and post-hardcore group Amertume, and have played every type of venue you can imagine. Now Bleed Radio Bleed is preparing to do the same.
