“Her ballads melt your heart, because it feels like she’s singing just for you, and when they swing, well your feet just gotta move…. that’s Janice Anderson and her Select Quartet. Just take a listen to one of her sets—you’ll drive miles just to hear her again, and again.” – The Jazz Rambler
If you enjoy the intimate and beautiful ballads of Bill Evans, the creative and rhythmic stylings of Ahmad Jamal and the jump-up-and-dance excitement of Fats Waller’s music, you’ll love the Select Quartet! While bringing the best of ‘straight ahead jazz’ to a stage, we interact with our audience and “tell the story” of our American art form by sharing the history of these beautiful songs, and giving each song a new breath of life with our original arrangements. The Select Quartet has been performing together for five years. Among the venues we have played together are: The Santa Monica Jazz Jubilee Festival, Vitello’s, The Mt. Olive Jazz Vespers Concert Series and The World Ship.
There is joy in every note that Janice Anderson sings. Janice entertains an audience with her warmth, easy charm and masters the art of bringing each song to life. A Los Angeles native, she has performed at LACMA's Friday Night Jazz Series, The Resort at Pelican Hill, Casa Del Mar Hotel, The Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel, among many other venues. Janice also lends her voice to audio books, KCRW radio, movie sound tracts and curates a monthly Jazz Vespers Concert Series in Santa Monica.
