Cowboy Hat and That Fuzzbox Voodoo was formed in May 2012 by Nigel Barker after 30 years of not playing a note of music.
Injured in a car accident at the age of 23, Nigel was unable to use his left hand for the whole of that time and had sold most of his guitars and gear. He was also working as an assistant engineer at Air Montserrat recording an Elton John album at the time. Only in May 2011 did he discover that his left hand was working well enough to start playing again. He puts this down to 14-years riding a Harley Davidson with a heavy clutch. 18-months ago he owned one guitar...he now has 20 and is totally committed to restoring the musical career that was taken away from him after the accident.
Where does he want to go with his musical career? Wherever the fates might take him - he's been to some dark places in the past and can't rule out some temporary revisits, but the fates are fickle and music is a broad and intriguing canvas.
He is joined in the band by Scott Hasler on bass and Stuart McLaren on drums. Add to this multi-instrumentalist Elisa Zoot on backing vocals and keyboards, and you have a heady mix of badass talent waiting to bust out the barrel.
