In 2010, Michael and Elizabeth (Lizi) Clawson, husband and wife, started an alternative rock band with science fiction-centric songs and a zany name. The band was your basic "a guy, a girl, and a guitar” set-up. Shortly thereafter, they discovered their band name was already being used so Michael and Lizi deconstructed and threw out everything along with the old band name. Disturbed but not deterred during the renaming process, the band's sound began to shift toward heavy extremes found only to be orchestrated by the use of synthesizers. Eliminating guitars altogether, Gravity Giving In was born, featuring dance-heavy rhythms, bright tones, and downbeat male vocals. With the release of In Motion and BLVD, Gravity Giving In reached an audience on Reverbnation and Myspace boasting a local rank of #3 in the Indie genre, and collected over 6 thousand fans in only a few months.
After a year long hiatus to focus their vision and write new material, GGI now features soul-searing female lead vocals and tighter grasp of their original vision-- the combination of extremities of light and dark sound known as chiaroscuro (the Italian term which literally means 'light and dark'). With shimmering pop leads and grizzly dark bass lines, GGI is paving a new aspect of sound comparable to 80’s pop hits met with the synths and energy of the Industrial underground. With themes of science fiction, horror, mystery, and romance woven into the composition, GGI's repertoire boasts a unique, passionate and exhilarating sound experience.
In 2013 GGI released 9 new songs which were well received, and reached #1 on Revebnation for Electronica in Fort Worth, TX.
