Freedom Presley makes music for, and from, the soul. With a sound hinged on the fundamentals of music meant to engage and inspire, the Philadelphia native has created an audible aesthetic that does both. Stripped down to an acoustic guitar and keyboard, both of which Freedom taught himself to play, his songs are intense in their simplicity and offer listeners a respite from the music of the mainstream.
Freedom serves as the main vocalist, songwriter and producer on all of his works. His skill in all three areas is apparent on his debut EP, To a Stranger, which was released in early 2013. On To a Stranger, Freedom describes the joys and pains of love and loss. From the introspective track "I Know You" to the haunting and powerful "All These Things," Freedom is able to clearly express complicated emotions through song.
Though a staple on Philly’s soul music scene for years, Freedom didn’t begin to focus on his solo career until recently. And those years spent to hone his craft are starting to pay off. The online and offline buzz is starting to build for Freedom, mainly due to his obvious talent, which isn't buried under over-engineered production, and the creative ways he's chosen to release the music, including laying his tracks over popular scenes from fan-favored indie films.
Even though Freedom is a relative newcomer, it is clear that he'll be around for a while. He will continue to use music to speak from the soul. And he will continue to be listened to, and heard.
