Superbad celebrates the diversity of individual musicians coming together to bring forth the feeling of togetherness and to revitalize the greatest tradition of the American culture, music. Inspired by the elements of Jazz, improvisation, and individual expression, Superbad covers a wide range of classics including everything from Stevie Wonder, Al Green, Otis Redding, Steely Dan, Sly Stone, Bill Withers, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, and other older classics, to newly celebrated contemporary music such as Roy Hargrove, Erykah Badu, Esperanza Spaulding, and many more.
The quartet features Daphne Cooper on lead vocals, Derek Engstrom on drums, Nick Bogdon on guitar, and Chris McMullen on bass (though guest appearances are not an uncommon sight). Each musician brings with them their individual experience and background in order to come together and celebrate America’s greatest tradition. No strangers to the Jazz idiom and improvisation, it is not uncommon to catch a drum, bass, or guitar solos along with improvised choruses and melodies by the lead singer. Each musician gets a chance to express his or her feelings on the spot through the art of improvisation and no two shows are the same. Always learning and expanding, the best show is always the next show!
