The piano and vocals duo, Whetsell Adams, performs jazz & blues with a romantic, vintage and theatrical flair. Jonathan Whetsell's swinging, ragtime keys paired with Sara Kennedy Adams' soulful voice and commanding stage presence brings these classic love songs back to life.
Sara Kennedy Adams was born in Long Beach, CA and has been singing all of her life. She joined choir in middle school but became more serious with singing and acting after moving to The Dalles, OR in 1991. She was active in theater and choir throughout high school with her favorite being Harmoniares Choraliares, a jazz choir that won first place at Lional Hampton Jazz Festival in 1993. She attended Southern Oregon University where she received a BA in Theatre Arts. After moving to Portland, OR in 1999, Sara became the lead vocalist in the rock band, Oracle and soon after recorded a track for Mark LaPierre’s rock musical demo Pinochenstein. In 2010, her sister, Kelli, and she joined forces as a duet winning first place in a singing competition. They then auditioned for America's Got Talent where they received a call back. Sara teaches acting to kids ages 6-16 in Portland, OR where she lives with her husband & two daughters. Her biggest musical influences are Bette Midler & Adele; two ladies with class, strong voices, huge personalities and great comedic timing.
Jonathan Whetsell was born in Portland, OR where his curiosity in music started at a very early age. He taught himself to play the piano and was enrolled in formal musical training when he was 7. Jonathan furthered his studies at Warner Pacific College where he studied music theory, piano and vocal. He sang with the concert choir, jazz choir and played piano and keyboards for his college band for three years. After graduating, he played for numerous events, played keyboards and B3 in a blues rock band and taught piano for five years. Jonathan was a church music leader for a total of 4 years and went on to play in other numerous church bands. His utmost musical influence was his mother who was a professional singer; touring with the Ted Mack Show & Orchestra in the 1950's and recording on the music label of TOPS Records. Jonathan has spent the last two years learning all the music that his mom performed so that he is able to pass on this music to his children and future generations. Jonathan currently resides in Camas, Washington with his wife and two daughters.
