CommonGround is an upcoming alternative/pop band from Honolulu, Hawaii with members: Danielle Oda - lead vocalist/keyboardist, Kyton Fung - bassist, and Perry Sekigawa - drummer/percussionist. All three members originated from different backgrounds - everything from pop, to rock, to reggae - creating a sound that is unique but relatable. CommonGround draws heavily on musical inspirations from artists like the soulful Sara Bareilles, rhythmic band, The Script, and lyric-driven composers, OneRepublic, where the band produces their own signature sound driven by personal experiences in the most honest form possible.
CommonGround has played a wide variety of performances ranging from restaurant entertainment to gigs requiring ticket sales. The band received a positive response, and was asked to do recurring shows at venues including Hawaiian Brian's Billiards, Station Bar & Lounge and Inferno's Wood Fire Pizza, to name a few.
The band released their first EP in August 2013, showcasing a sweeping range of tempos and colors appropriate to each definitive story behind the melody. As their music emphasizes the unavoidable experiences of life and love, CommonGround aspires a relatable fan base in reverie that their music moves the hearts of people around the world in some way.
