Midnight Hour is a 60's and 70's Classic Rock/R&B band of six members. Shirel, the lead singer can croon, growl or scream like Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin, Linda Ronstadt, just to mention a few. Her favorite is Janis though. With Bruce Chapman on keys, you'd swear the man has four hands. With two keyboards and an array of electronic gizmos Bruce's solos are truly mind boggling to hear and see! Mark Rainey's drums are creative, solid and rockin'! If he can't make you want to shake your backside, no one can! George Lopez's bass is sometimes a lead instrument although he can get in the pocket and stay there. He and Mark give the band a seriously launch pad! Jon Van Hise's crunchy Big Brother/Cream guitar style is the exact opposite of Tom Armstrong's bare handed, free spirited improvisational skills. Together they set the mood for just about anything you'd want to hear. The combined vocals of Shirel, George, Bruce, and sometimes Tom bring strong lead vocals and tight harmonies, somewhat reminiscent of "The Band" but also with a sound all their own.
Midnight Hour is based out of the north end and east side of the Seattle area but traveling is fine with us. We've played bars, private parties, weddings, and community events. Midnight Hour's ability to go from a two piece duet with Shirel and Bruce to Classic Jazz with just four of the band playing to full on rock and roll with the whole group smokin' hot makes Midnight Hour a great wedding band starting out quiet and slow during dinner and working the crowd into a dancing frenzy for the rest of the evening!
