Sam Burns and Jeremy Fowler originally knew each other from Kindergarten until Jeremy moved away in third grade. They were reunited with each other their senior year of high school due to the wonders of social media. Sam would attend shows of Jeremy's bands, and the friendship was resparked when Sam wanted to play a show of his original works. The Coordinates originally began in the summer of 2012 as a temporary project to back up Sam with a band. They began with the working name The Sam Burns Band. It incorporated members from Houston based bands My Side Of The Story and Clay Melton Band. Sam Burns and Jeremy Fowler moved off to different colleges across Texas but kept the project alive by writing songs together by sending voice memos and demos of ideas to each other through text messages and emails. This was the beginning of what became The Coordinates. Sam Burns played the acoustic guitar and sang, and Jeremy Fowler did the same. After two members left the band to pursue other interests, they recruited Gabriel Porter to play upright bass and to provide a third set of vocals. Upon recruiting Gabriel, they set out on a two week tour of the east coast of America. After tour, the group moved to Austin, TX were they currently reside and constantly play shows.
The group is very influenced by The Beatles, which can really be heard in one of their first self-recorded singles "Reality Got The Best Of Me." They are currently working on their first full length record at Smilin' Castle Productions with producer Rick Del Castillo, who's work has appeared in films such as Machete Kills, Kill Bill 2, and Spy Kids. Upon the release of the album, the band intends to go back on tour to the east coast as well as the rest of the nation.
