"Nothing like this is going on today in Nashville," said one of the members, and that's why they are doing it. "There seems to be a lack of young people understanding where their music comes from." And, with that, That Spoonful was born.
It all started with Keith Walker (longtime sound engineer) and Devin Pena (Christine,Hillbilly All-Stars) getting together and just jammin' out some blues in the basement and doing a show at the now defunct Muse for their last ever show. "It was total improv and yet it felt right, the blues is something you feel, you can rehearse it a million times and it'll never be the same twice, you just gotta dig deep and see where you are in that time and let it speak through your instrument."
Since then they went through the process of finding other like minded individuals who wanted to do something they loved doing. Devin had a longtime friend, Sean who was and is playing bass in a metal band (Noisecult) and also a country gig (Country Misfits) he does and thought, he'd fit right in. Naturally it was like finding the right glove that fit. Again, Keith had a friend Eric Otto (Blue Fades) and well? End of story, and here you have it, That Spoonful.
