Heartfelt. Straightforward. It’s Personal.
Part of Benny Marchant’s appeal is the honest, raw emotion he employs in his recordings and in his live performances. He gives voice to feelings of love, loss, journey and victory writing from personal experience and his views on the world. His songs are both touching and relatable. To listen to his lyrics is to get to know Benny.
Benny’s eclectic blend of anthemic pop, folk and indie rock earned him early rave reviews in the US and the UK. He spent much of 2012 touring; building fans on both sides of the pond. (Factoid: Lacrosse skills scored Benny his first European gigs, playing in matches while attending Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland.)
2013 looks equally bright. Benny’s just-released song “That’s All” on iTunes is already finding its way onto US radio stations. A 3-song EP will be released shortly.
Benny has a complete album of songs ready; the material by far is his most diverse and best. The album titled One More Chance is chock-full of Benny’s signature emotion and range. Infectious songs such as “Brass Ring”, “Bitter” and “In Your Arms” take you on a complete emotional journey. The material includes collaborations with Michael Bauer (Coldplay John Mayer) and Kevin Killen (Shawn Colvin, Elvis Costello) among others. One More Chance is available at his shows and will be released digitally later in 2013.
Benny’s story began where most do: his parent’s garage in Annapolis, MD. After enjoying local success, with his college band, Benny got his first taste of success when his album Teller recorded in his garage post graduation. It generated some serious buzz and earned a cult following. After a brief tenure in Nashville to hone his songwriting skills, Benny moved to Los Angeles and formed the band, The Kings Royal, which in time, he put on hiatus, to go solo.
In LA, he teamed up with Joe Chiccarelli (Radiohead, White Stripes, My Morning Jacket, The Shins) to record his debut EP Conversations Missed. The EP along with steady touring, earned Benny a solid reputation in Southern California and the west coast.
As Benny’s musical journey continues, you can bet almost everything he does will find it's way into his lyrics. He’ll make us part of it.
